Kidney Stones in Diabetic Patients are Preventable and Treatable

Diabetic patients are at increased risk for stone formation.  They are also at higher risk of complications from kidney stones due to higher chance of complications from infections.

New studies demonstrate that diabetic patients are at increased risk for uric acid stones relatively to other stone patients.

The good news is that uric acid stones are often preventable with careful management.  Diabetic patients with history of kidney stones require close urological follow up.
